Dear Sir,

We would like to express our appreciation and commendation to Mr. Rawi of Holland, Bukit Panjang TC for his initiative, excellent and efficient job, for removing the dangerous metal rod (20cm, diameter 1cm) extruded vertically from the ground left behind by the previous contractor.

This is happened to be at the site of The State Land beside block 101 below railway track. I have expected him to arrange with relevant department, yet this job is carried out within 24 hours with his initiative by mobilising his man power.

He shows his concern for the safety of residents and sense of urgency though the land belongs to the state.  His extra effort has increase the productivity and avoid possible injury of residents. His extra effort and initiative have made himself different from other officers. He has also set a good for other officers and certainly deserved to be commended.

We also attach the photo of the metal rod.

We also share our appreciation with HDB and Dr Tan Wu Meng of neighbouring JCTC.

Thank you.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I write to compliment your officer, Mr Pascal Gan.

One of the residents at blk 248 has abused the water tap at the staircase and BBQ area. Every day, he would collect few pails of water at several times of day.

I met Mr Gan and highlighted this matter to him. He investigated the matter. Thanks to his swift action, the matter is resolved.

I find that Mr Gan is a kind and friendly person who handle the matter amicably within the neighbourhood. The residents will be proud to have such a person under your employment.

I would like you to inform him that I sincerely appreciate his earnest effort in settling the matter.

Thank you.

Thank you so much for your prompt and efficient response to the situation.

Thank you for your advice to the resident involved and the follow up action.

I suggest that you check all the fire hose reel compartment on every floor for blocks 29 and 30, as old people staying here tend to use these compartments to store their personal items.

It’s good to check and Ensure that there are no personal items in these compartments and to have these compartments locked so residents will not use the space to store their personal items.

Thank you again for your excellent work! I really appreciate it and am very grateful for your fast response and great work!

To Whom It May Concern

I am writer this email to praise one of your most efficient staff Mr Jimmy Yap. He has solved the following issue within few days.

1.) after report bees near my unit, he came down and noticed trees surrounding our blocks overgrown and arrange for tree trimming. These few block sites look neat and brighter after trimmed.

2.) I have this bees issue for almost one and half year. And finally this time Mr Jimmy Yap has helped me to solve the bees issue. (found that there is a bee hive above my unit). He told me although the hive has been destroyed, it is safe to keep observe any leftover bees behind. Gladly to say so far about three weeks after the hive destroyed, no sight of bees anymore.

3.) outside my corridor, there is this bicycle chain (which belong to ex owner). I have been in this HBD unit for eleven years and trying to ask town council to help remove but nothing been done. That day after Mr Jimmy Yap helped solve the bees issue. I told him this particular lock and immediately within two hours, he sent one worker to remove it.

4.) lastly when I walk out our lift there are notice from town council stating that observe quite few bicycles parked on the ground floor which are broken and rusty. Remind resident by certain date to remove or the town council will take action to remove them.

I am very impressed with this young officer and Bangkit town council employ this ‘gem’. That’s the way to serve the residents. And last but not least, MR JIMMY YAP, pls keep up the good job!!!!

Dear Marcus

Thank you for your prompt and kind assistance in this matter and for liasing with NEA.

I understand your reply that it’s not feasible to place a litter bin at that location.

I hope that you will advise the cleaner to help to clean away all the littered cigarette butts and discarded boxes in that particular area , so as to avoid fire hazard. And please advise the cleaner that if they see the blue recycle bin next to the step area where people always smoke, to help push it back to near other side of bin area.

Lastly, I hope you or NEA will talk to the management of the NTUC Kopitiam and seek their help to remind their staffs not to smoke and litter the stepped area with cigarette butts. If the staffs want to smoke there, advise their staff not to throw their cigarette butts there. Help to throw their cigarette butts at their bins at their Kopitiam

Hopefully the situation will improve.

Thank you again for your prompt, kind assistance and excellent work as our TC Officer. I really appreciate your help.

Dear Sir,

I am a resident of Block 112 Clementi Street 13. I have requested for several matters to be looked into many times. And each time Mr Rawi will take the issue into his own hands as though it was his own matter and follow up with it.

With his good attitude, he will politely take note of the issues and make an appointment to visit the site personally and he is always on time and advise was given on the spot. Alternatively he will arrange with the contractor to visit the site to give advice on the next development. Many a time on the same day when I lodge a concern he would on the same day itself sent in the workers to do and complete up the work.

With that, I am very contented with the way Mr Rawi has put in his effort of looking after the residents and the surrounding areas which has reflected the professionalism of the employee of the Town Council.

I do hope that Mr Rawi will be awarded with a good customer service recognition.

Best regards,

Dear Sir / Mdm,

Good Day.

We are the resident of Blk 621 Senja Road.

There was a water flow issue in our unit last weekend. The tap and shower water flow in our house was very little. On the 18th of February, the flow got worse. We called EMU in the wee hours of the night and someone attended to our call for help, promptly. The operator on duty was extremely helpful and understood our situation. We are also very grateful for the assistance rendered by the contractor, Kumar, who came to fix the main water supply tap immediately the following day. The service and turnaround time by the team is definitely commendable.

My sincere appreciation to the team who came to our rescue.

Thank you.

Dear The Officer In Charge,

Reference Case ID 609385 dated 13/Feb/19, Wednesday. I have been facing inconsistent water pressure flow for my home water taps since last year December 2018. It had gotten worst and I have reported the case to PUB on 7/Feb/19, Thursday. Since then PUB and the Town Council Engineers have been following up closely to resolve the problems.

The successful collaboration between PUB and the Town Council engineers had effectively resolved the problems on 16/Feb/19, Saturday. The high level of professionalism, service and dedication rendered by personnel from the EMSU Hotline Unit, Engineers from PUB and Town Council had prompted me to write in to express my thanks and appreciation for their time and effort put in.

To Mr. Abdul Rahim and Mr. Hashim Hayon from PUB, Mr. Jonathan and his team from Town Council, it might be just another day on their jobs. To me, it was an awesome experience to know that your organization had such a great and wonderful people that make life a little better for others.

Well, Kudos to you guys for a job well done and keep up the good work.

Sincerely yours,

Wednesday, 02 January 2019

Dear Mr Ong,

Ms Sim Ann, our MP, visited my flat twice. Her last visit was on 29th Oct 2012 at 8.15 pm whereupon I brought up to her my problem as a resident of this unit. I mentioned the frequent rusty roof debris and dusts being swept down onto my balcony floor despite wooden planks having been nailed onto the timber supports to cover up the spaced out wooden strips that HDB designed as our balcony ceiling. I also mentioned the rainwater seepage problem. She instructed a member of her entourage to help looked into these issues. That officer took down my telephone number but to date, he never contact me at all.

Whenever new property officers visited my unit following my complaints about the same old issues, it gave me heightened hope that these officers will seriously help addressed my problems. Contractors came too. One suggested opening the balcony window to let off the rainwater that seeped from the roof floor through the ceiling edges. I resorted to putting permanent containers on my balcony floor to collect rainwater as I my complaints were all in vain.

Mr Ong, I must say that you deserve accolades for looking into residents' problems like mine seriously. You helped me to solve my over 3 decades of headaches residing here. None of your predecessors under the current Town Council is able to achieve what you did for me. I do appreciate your great effort in organizing a team of officers like Ms Tracy Lim (TC Property Manager) and 2 other Malay looking men to survey my unit on 1st June 2018. On 2nd October 2018, you came with another team comprising of Mr Rahman, your Project Manager from E M Services Ltd, Mr Kevin Seah from Weerong Waterproofing & Services Pte Ltd, 2 foreign workers and a tall, big sized Chinese man. On 25th October 2018, you came with another colleague to inspect the extent of damage following the contractor's foreign workers' oversight on 24th October 2018.

Now that my balcony ceiling repair works had been completed since 15th December 2018 and the rainwater seepages plugged at source, all my problems have been resolved. Many thanks to you and also Mr Kevin Seah who got his carpenter, Mr Lee to customize a replica of my damaged prayer table.

Wishing you all - A Happy, Healthy, Lucky and Prosperous New Year 2019

Warmest regards,
Lisa Chua

Dear Mr Christopher De Souza,

We would like to give compliment to you and your town council Mr Rawi and his team for keeping our environment clean and looks pleasant.

We have noted that you have taken initiative to clean up the wooden platform and walk way in front of Clementi Block 101 along the Ulu Pandang canal recently as clean as it is new. Many residents have their morning walk over this wooden platform and walk way. As this wooden platform has been a few years old, it has accumulated a lot of dirt and black stain. It has come to my mind recently that if it can retain its clean appearance as it was new, it would  be wonderful. Last few days we are surprised to see that you have brought back the new appearance of the platform again. We understand that it takes lot of  great effort for this cleaning job. The residents are very happy to see this nice and clean platform and walk way.

We appreciate very much of you and would like to thank you and the town council Mr Rawi and his team for managing the estate to be a clean and pleasant estate.

Best regards,

Dear Ms Lim,

I am writing to compliment Ms Sheila Ng (PR Manager) for taking ownership of the issue of cat feeding at Block 129 Pending Road on the 2nd Floor.

Initially, we got off the wrong foot on this matter as probably my expectations were not in line with your policy on response times to resident feedback or complaints and became frustrated.

Firstly, I thank you for calling me back promptly as requested, early in this matter, and getting the right personnel to handle it.

Sheila is an excellent communicator, through our initial contact I felt she understood my frustration and genuinely wanted to help me solve the problem. She went on to assume ownership of the issue personally even though it is more of an operational matter. She heard my frustrations, understood the issues and and responded well and provided a action plan to resolve the matter. I am very impressed that she also did go on site to better grasp the situation and get a first hand feel.

She has delivered on what she committed to fully and I recognise the additional effort and workload that imposes on her and the team. My family and I are very happy with the progress and results and cannot ask for me. Obviously she has a good team, Ms Goh WQ and also the CV personnel working with her as they did a really good job monitoring the site for cat feeding during these 2 weeks. Even on Sundays which was not supposed to have any monitoring.

I am aware that there is a distinct possibility that the cat feeding might re-surface and understand that if the resident does not want to comply it is unavoidable.

I only request that a plan is put in place to address this potential issue if feeding resurfaces again in the future. No, I do not expect anywhere near the same level of personnel and resources committed in the last two weeks.

Please convey our thanks to Sheila and the team.

Thank you.

With best regards,
Walter Ow

I have then written-in to your Town Council for assistance. I am glad that your Senior Property Officer Mr Ong Eng Huat has quickly attended to my case. Friday, 5 May 2017

Dear Sir/Madam,

My family and I would like to send a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to the following individuals for doing their job diligently.

They took the time to repeatedly come down to our unit to find a solution to the water accumulating in our kitchen (a ground floor unit at Blk 138 Petir Road). For the first time in a month, I can now walk into a dry kitchen, in no small part, due to their efforts.

My apologies for not being able to name each individual as the matter at hand did not afford us the time for formal introductions. I hope the case file and descriptions are sufficient for you to identify the individuals to convey our gratitude.

Our biggest thanks would go to Mr Brandon who took on the case and made multiple visits to our house. Though he was equally as baffled as us, he did not cease in attempting to find new departments to visit our unit to try to find a solution.

Next, a thank you to Mr Jason. He was very personable and it was evident in our conversations with him that he was determined to find a solution even if it was a temporary one. I am sure he is equally as relieved as us that no hacking through floors was necessary.

With Mr Jason was a contractor whose name I do not recall. This individual was jovial and offered his own thoughts on what could be happening. He even took my father’s suggestions to drill drainage holes without being dismissive. A special thanks also goes out to a man working under him who had to visit our unit not once but twice to drill said holes. On his second visit, instead of merely doing what he was instructed to, he gave us sufficient warning to get my 5-year-old to a safe distance to avoid being affected by the sound. Such initiative has been much appreciated.

Thanks also go out to the 3 men who accompanied Mr Brandon on the 3rd of May. The first person, for thinking through every scenario from water hydrants to PUB pipelines, and the second individual who actually solved the mystery. To verify every possible cause, he even got us to check if our water bill had gone up. He was so methodical in trying to find a solution.

This trait was obviously honed from years of experience and his help in solving the mystery was invaluable. To the man who actually helped us cut through our cabinets to find the leak, thank you for choosing just the right location to isolate the problem. Personally taking the time away from your demanding jobs to physically come down and inspect the issue was perhaps the single most important reason you got the baffling case solved.

Though not from the Town Council, thanks goes out to Mr William Raja – Chairman of our RC, our neighbor and dear friend. He took his own initiative to see how he could help even without being asked. This is praise worthy quality in a leader and tangible evidence that the Residents Committee is really all about helping the residents.

In the whole time we have lived in a HDB flat, we have never had to go to the town council for any issue. This first experience was a pleasant one where we saw cooperation and a genuine interest in solving the case. Keep up the good work!

On a separate issue we have with the town council about the ‘disputed garden’, I would like to thank Mr Brandon and Mr William again. They took time out off their busy schedules to try and negotiate an amicable solution with our new very aggressive and unyielding neighbour. Neither we nor our other neighbours can fathom why he insists on more land when he clearly has triple the portion we currently use. We on our part fully understand that it is HDB property and not ours. To avoid his threats and offensive language towards my family and for the safety of our elderly and child, we would rather do away with the garden altogether. Having the privilege of using it over the past two decades as an extension of our home is much appreciated.

The mini, sloppy, pizza-slice of land hosted many treasure hunts, easter egg hunts, housed my daughter’s magical fairy houses and was a little slice of the ‘wild outdoors’ to the kids in the neighbourhood.

Numerous friendships were made because of it. Neighbours from surrounding blocks would drop by for their cooking herbs or banana leaves. 80 and 90 year- old-retired farmers relocated to surrounding blocks advised my daughter (born on the other side of the world) on the best methods to grow her ladies fingers and eggplants. Language was not a barrier when a common interest was involved. But most of all, I loved the knowledge passed down through the generations. This broke down racial and generational divides. It was urban farming with old world wisdom at its best.

My father’s 50 or so solar lights have been a great conversation starter. Strangers have approached us on how they work. Thanks to the disputed garden, we now know more of our neighbours than before.

Alas it is with a heavy heart but fond memories that our family will let our little piece of the wild go. But the friendships made will be kept, the knowledge treasured.

Thank you all for not only doing your jobs, but going beyond the technical aspects and addressing the emotional ones as well.
